Packing wisely will help ensure a smooth transition to life at Rotman Commerce and in the city of Toronto. Here’s a helpful list of things to bring from home, or to purchase when you arrive:

- Summer clothes: Lightweight, breathable clothing for temperatures that can reach above 30°C (86°F) in July and August
- Umbrella or rain jacket: For rainy days, especially in spring and fall
Business attire
Rotman Commerce students often attend professional events, networking sessions, and case competitions:
- Business formal wear: A suit, dress shirt/blouse, dress shoes, and appropriate accessories
- Business casual options: Blazers, dress pants or skirts, neat shoes

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where can I buy clothing on or near campus?
A: The Eaton Centre Mall is the best place to buy clothing at many price points. Stores at the Eaton Centre have all-weather gear, business attire, and casual clothing. Try Uniqlo for casual and business casual. On a budget? Check out U of T’s Free Store for secondhand clothing that’s free for students!
Q: Do I need a suit? Where can I get one?
Q: Should I bring all my textbooks and school supplies from home?
A: No. You can buy or rent textbooks in Toronto or access them digitally. Bring basic supplies like notebooks and pens, but larger items can be purchased once you’re here.
Q: What electronic adapters should I bring?
A: Canada uses Type A/B plugs and 110V voltage. If your country uses a different system, bring a power adapter or voltage converter.
Q: Do I need to bring my own bedding/sheets?
A: Yes. University of Toronto residences do not provide bedding/sheets. There are plenty of places to buy bedding near campus. We recommend Winners or Simon’s stores.
