Application instructions and resources
The U of T Learning Abroad website has step-by-step application instructions to help you prepare, apply, and accept your exchange opportunity.
- Start your application in the CIE Student Portal.
- Enter your personal information, school ranking and study plan. Click “Submit Part 1” and await a confirmation email from CIE with your personalized link to the full application.
- Complete you application by the posted deadline for Rotman Commerce students. If you need help, please visit the RC Centre for Professional Skills or your College’s Writing Centre.
- Your application will also include your profile information, preferred destination and preferred term/semester, and a list of your proposed courses (these are not necessarily the final courses you will be taking at your host institution).
- Use the same application to apply for funding. Be prepared to provide additional information.
Once you have received your nomination, you will receive a checklist outlining the application requirements of your host University.
Application timeline
Exact deadlines can be found on the Learning Abroad website.
October to November 2025 – Complete your research on where you would like to go on exchange.
December 2025 – Whether you are interested in learning abroad in Fall 2026, Winter 2027 or the Full 2026-27 Academic Year, your application is due Wednesday, December 3, 2025 (11:59 PM EST).
January 2026 – Applications will be reviewed.
February 2026 onward – Nominations will be sent via email on a rolling basis. Nominees will be given time to accept or decline the nomination.
If you accept the nomination, you will receive more information on next steps directly from CIE.
You are also welcome to book some time with an Academic Advisor or International Exchange Peer to support you throughout the process.
