Tuition, fees & scholarships for international students

Navigating tuition and fees is an important step in getting started at Rotman Commerce. Here’s what you need to know as a Rotman Commerce international student:

Tuition & fees

  • International first‑year Rotman Commerce students pay the international Arts & Science tuition.
  • From year two onwards, Rotman Commerce students pay a “deregulated” full‑time program fee if enrolled in 3.0–6.0 credits, with part‑time fees applicable for fewer credits.
  • Look up your international first year and upper year tuition on the U of T Registrar website:
  • Look for the current year and find ‘Faculty of Arts & Science Undergraduate.’
  • Click on the International link for the college you’ve been assigned.
  • In the tuition document, find the first year Arts & Science tuition, or for upper years find the Rotman Commerce tuition.

As an international student in the Rotman Commerce program (in the Faculty of Arts & Science), the cost you will see on your student account is made up of several components:

  • Program tuition/“full-time program fee” for the Fall-Winter session (for example 3.0 credits or more).
  • Mandatory incidental/access/system/ancillary fees (for campus services, student union, athletics, etc.)
  • Health insurance fee via the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) for international students.

Note: Tuition and fees are subject to change each year and depend on credit load, so always check your invoice on ACORN and the Student Accounts website.

How to pay

International students can pay their fees via:

  • Canadian bank online payments.
  • Credit card payments via ACORN (Visa/MasterCard), subject to a convenience/service fee.
  • International bank transfers may take longer (several business days) — plan accordingly.

Note: Once you enrol in your courses and your invoice is generated in ACORN, you must either pay the Minimum Required Payment (MRP) by your division’s deadline to be registered. Not doing so may risk cancellation of courses.

After paying the MRP, you must pay the remaining balance of your fees by the noted payment deadline to avoid service charges.

Scholarships & Financial Aid for International Students

As an incoming international student to Rotman Commerce, you may automatically be considered for some admission awards (no separate application required). View all Rotman Commerce admission awards on the Rotman Commerce website. View all U of T admission awards on the Registrar’s website

Once enrolled at Rotman Commerce, you can also apply for scholarships/in-course awards. View all U of T in-course awards on the Arts & Science website. Get more information about Rotman Commerce specific scholarships on the Rotman Commerce website

Considerations for international students

  • Currency and transfers: If you are paying from outside Canada, ensure you allow enough time for fund transfers. Delays may lead to service charges or registration holds.
  • Health insurance (UHIP): As an international student you must pay the UHIP fee; missing this can affect your health-coverage status. See our article on health care for more information.
  • Full-time enrolment requirement: Many scholarships require you to remain full-time (e.g., minimum credits/courses) and maintain academic standing. Dropping below full-time or transferring out of the program may void the award.
  • Budget beyond tuition: Tuition is only part of the cost. International students need to budget for living expenses (housing, food, transit, books), plus possible travel.
  • Deadlines and holds: Missing payment deadlines may trigger monthly service charges and holds that may block registration or transcripts.
  • Scholarship renewal & conditions: If you receive a significant entrance scholarship, you’ll need to maintain eligibility year to year (e.g., remain in the program, maintain standard of performance).
